The Tiger is the undisputed king of beasts in Chinese mythology. But how did such a powerful creature end up third in the zodiac?
One legend says that the Tiger helped humans defeat the three most ferocious animals that had been causing disasters. Grateful for his bravery, the people recommended him for a place in the zodiac.
Another story tells that when the Jade Emperor summoned the animals, the Tiger refused to accept his position in the order. Emperor Xuanyuan, impressed by his courage, honored him with the title "King of the Mountain" and placed him immediately after the Ox.
During the great race, the Tiger swam through the dangerous currents with raw power and persistence, claiming third place.
