The Pig's journey to twelfth place is a story of good intentions and unfortunate timing.
On the day of the great race, the Pig rose early and faced numerous hardships to reach the Heavenly Palace. But he got hungry halfway through and took a detour to find food. After filling his belly, he took a nap. By the time he arrived, the ranking event had already concluded.
Despite his late arrival, the Jade Emperor was moved by the Pig's sincerity. He gave him the twelfth and final place in the zodiac.
In another version, the Pig was the last to arrive because he stopped to help others along the way – a testament to his generous nature.
